Modern Throwback: A 1970’s Styled Photo Shoot

Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Leslie Kinross-Wright and Jeena Metzger in a colorful 1970’s inspired photo shoot at Studio 1912. The shoot was filled with bright colors, funky outfits, and an unreal energy. This is Sioux Falls Photography.

Leslie and Jeena brought their A-game to the shoot, donning sparkly outfits and retro hairstyles. They were both incredibly comfortable in front of the camera, making my job as the photographer easy and enjoyable. We experimented with different poses and props, using vintage record players and bright, geometric backdrops to add to the groovy feel of the shoot.

The energy in the studio was contagious, and we all had a blast as we captured some amazing shots. Leslie and Jeena’s infectious personalities and willingness to take risks helped us to create truly unique and memorable photos.

As a photographer, it’s always exciting to work with models who are willing to go outside of the box and embrace a new concept. Leslie and Jeena were the perfect subjects for this shoot, and their enthusiasm for the project was evident in every shot.

In the end, we came away with some stunning images that perfectly captured the 1970’s vibe we were going for. It was a pleasure working with Leslie and Jeena, and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to create something truly special with them.

Incorporating Art in Photography: A Vogue Styled Shoot

As a photographer, incorporating art into my work is essential for creating something that truly stands out. Recently, I had the opportunity to work with a long-time friend of mine, Leslie Kinross-Wright, who acted as both the model and stylist for a vogue-style photoshoot.

We spent a considerable amount of time planning and preparing for the shoot, discussing everything from the location and wardrobe to the lighting and poses. As we worked together, we drew inspiration from the artistry of the fashion industry.

Throughout the process, I came to realize just how important incorporating art into photography was for both of us. We wanted to create something that wasn’t just visually stunning, but also conveyed a sense of emotion and meaning.

Incorporating art into photography can take many forms, such as creative lighting and composition to create a mood, or incorporating elements of fashion or design to create a unique visual style. Whatever the approach, the goal is always the same: to create something that is beautiful and meaningful.

Working on this photoshoot was a reminder of just how powerful the combination of art and photography can be. It was an opportunity to push the boundaries of what we thought was possible, and to create something truly special that we could be proud of.

Incorporating art into photography is not always easy, and it requires a certain level of skill and creativity. But for those who are willing to put in the effort, the rewards can be truly extraordinary. Whether you are a professional photographer or simply someone who enjoys taking pictures, I encourage you to explore the possibilities of incorporating art into your work. You may be surprised at what you can create.

Sioux Falls Stands with Ukraine

Watching what is happening in Ukraine is confusing and upsetting. The news is tough to watch when I am anticipating watching the ultimate bullies of this decade hurt innocent people and for reasons that are very unclear.Mayor Paul TenHaken had the idea to turn Falls Park, Sioux Falls’s namesake, blue and yellow to show our support for Ukraine. Whether you are from Ukraine or from Sioux Falls, we all share this one Earth and this one life. If only there was more we could do – the prayers and positive thoughts will have to do.This photo and following edit speak volumes in my opinion and I hope you feel what I do when I look at it. I am interested in hearing your thoughts and prayers for Ukraine! 🙏

Digital Art for YOUR Wall

I am so proud of the creative process and the technical process behind the digital art that I produce. You can probably imagine how excited I get when I see it on someone’s wall. My goal is to have something for everyone and for YOU to be excited to put a print or canvas on your wall. Visit the Digital Art page for viewing and ordering!

My digital art starts with a photograph. I take photos from all over Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and many other locations (from travel). Some prints, specifically selected, are run through artificial intelligence software that I have expertly programmed to perform a neural style transfer. Once the new image is created from the defined style and the photograph, it is created into an ultra high definition image. Once all of these steps are performed, I have an incredibly unique and original piece of digital art that can be made into any print from small scale for frames to large format prints and canvases.

My first few collections are being put out for a VERY LIMITED TIME and will start with this really fun flower collection and will be followed by some work from South Dakota landmarks! Thank you so much for your time and interest!

Adding Sunrise and Sunset to Google or Apple Calendar!

Every professional photographer knows how important sun timing is to get the best photos no matter what the occasion. There are a lot of ways to look up sunrise and sunset times so that clients can be scheduled at just the right time to get the most out of every session. One can simply do a search for the sunrise and sunset times of a certain day but that is generally done one day at a time and can be tedious. One can get an app that they can reference from their phone when scheduling but that is tedious, takes up room on your phone, and adds another app to the app drawer that just isn’t necessary. In my opinion, the best way to always know when to plan for outdoor shoots is to add sunrise and sunset times into your Google or Apple calendar! If you want your calendar to look like mine, with sunrise and sunset each day, simply follow these instructions.

Visit www.webcal.guru, create an account (it is free), select the ‘Sun’ calendar (notice there are a lot of fun calendars to pick from), setup location, select sunrise and sunset under ‘events’. Set time period, event titles however you like, and select your calendar color. When you are done, just save, and add it to your calendar by copying the link to the calendar and adding it to your existing calendar as a subscription. It took me less time to set up this calendar than it did for me to type this out! So go get it!
