01 · In the Barricade

When the Performers See the Camera

I had one of the most amazing experiences photographing Foreigner, Styx, and John Waite at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center on Wednesday evening. What makes these artists so incredibly fun is their ability to engage fully in the performance, with an awareness that there’s a house photographer in the barricade. In some of the photos, you'll notice how they deliberately pose on stage, incorporating cool elements like their shoes, microphone stands, or gestures that acknowledge the camera. It’s hard to put into words just how exhilarating this feels.

02 · Timing

Ready for the Moment

At the same time, a photographer has to be on their game, ready to capture these moments as they happen. Focus and camera settings must be dialed in perfectly, because if you look away for even a second, you could miss a critical moment.

03 · Behind the Show

The People Who Make It Possible

Thank you for viewing! Please keep comments focused on the art of photography or share positive thoughts. It's important to recognize that we don’t fully understand the immense pressure tour staff are under to ensure everyone's safety and deliver a great show. I couldn’t imagine handling that kind of responsibility, which only deepens my appreciation for the work they do. Let's also take a moment to acknowledge the incredible efforts of everyone at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center who work tirelessly to make these shows an unforgettable experience for all of us. Their dedication truly makes a difference.
